Story
Bibha Chowdhuri worked with D. M. Bose at the Bose Institute, using photographic plates to record cosmic-ray particles. Their work in the early 1940s detected particles we now know as mesons. A star (HD 86081) was named 'Bibha' in her honour.
Key contributions
- Detected meson tracks in photographic emulsions (1938–42)
- PhD under P. M. S. Blackett in Manchester
- Worked at TIFR and the Physical Research Laboratory
